SAILING TOWARD
SUSTAINABILITY

Themes

This great but challenging era has been impacted by multiple unfavorable factors; anti-globalization, trade protectionism, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Russian-Ukrainian war to name a few. These have all placed obstacles against our efforts to realize the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

It is a fitting time to exchange ideas on how to tackle these unique challenges and help one another overcome them, in the understanding that we are all on the same boat with a shared fate. Let’s sail towards a bright and sustainable future together.

Panels

Rapid advancements in AI technology have aided scientists in their respective pursuits across a wide range of fields. From analyzing complex mathematical equations to exploring the law of universal gravitation, developments in AI have made it possible to even design pharmaceuticals on a molecular level. Industry experts and leaders in relevant fields discuss how current AI technology is solving problems today in research and development, and where they see the future of AI technology going next.

The global pandemic over the past few years has demonstrated how important it is to protect the health and wellbeing of mankind, as a potent threat to the body has a ripple effect that cascades upon the whole of society. The need to protect against such a health crisis has brought together families, businesses and societies and revealed how an individual can only do so much alone. Today, the power of AI, the Internet and network technology has extended the reach of medical fields through online consultations, advanced medical treatments and remote collaborations, greatly accelerating medical research. By combining AI with big data, the accessibility to high-quality medical resources can be improved as medical care grows more personalized. Our panelists look back retrospectively on how the pandemic has changed the global take on health and wellness, and look forward to how the government, medical institutions, technology companies and more can work together to explore and build a thriving ecosystem that maximizes the potential of new technologies and helps to level the global playing field.
Climate change is an enormous issue with wide-reaching consequences that extend beyond the beauty of our ecological environment or air quality. The dangers of climate change present irreversible harm to people’s homes, livelihoods and communities. Given the scope of the problem, it is impossible for any country to handle climate change alone. The fate of the world is in our hands, and its weight must be shared among us. To combat climate change, all developed and developing countries must cooperate. Through international commitments like the Paris Agreement and Net Zero Asset Managers initiative, we can see a glimpse into a brighter future. This panel brings out into the open the differences in the principles and responsibilities held by parties all around the world, and how they must be handled to ensure the boat is set on the right course: towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
