Hengpeng Zhu has served as the Deputy Director of Institute of Economics, The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) since 2014. He is also the Head of the Centre for Public Policy Research of CASS, and acts as an adviser for medical reform to a number of bureaus of the Chinese government, such as the Ministry of Finance.
With broad experience in researching state-enterprises reform, he had led a team to conduct a 10-year tracking research on healthcare and medical system reform, covering 21 provinces and cities in China.
As an economics professor, he has dedicated his research in industrial organization theory, healthcare economics and public economics. His current focuses include state hospitals reform, the public healthcare system, innovative medical service models and drug distribution and pricing systems.
Professor Zhu received his B.S degree in Engineering from The University of Science and Technology in 1991, and his PhD in Economics from CASS in 1999.
