Mr. Yin takes the position of Chairman of Novartis China, effective January 18, 2011. He oversees the Pharma business in China and as a member of the Pharma Executive Committee (PEC), reports directly to David Esptein, Head of Novartis Pharma Global. He also has responsibility for leading the other Novartis Group businesses in China­.

Prior to joining Novartis, Mr. Yin served as President, AstraZeneca China and Hong Kong and successfully led AstraZeneca to grow into a 1 billion US dollar business company. Previously, he served in China as Vice President of the Primary Care Business and as VP, Strategic Planning and Marketing. Prior to AstraZeneca, Mr. Yin worked at the Boston Consulting Group, focusing on pharmaceutical industry clients in Asia.

Mr. Yin is a board member of the China Medical Association and a member of the Executive Committee of the China R&D-based Pharmaceutical Industry Association.

Mr. Yin received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Beijing University, MBA from Harvard Business School, and PhD in Biological Science from Stanford University.
