Dr Tan is Director of the COMO Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the COMO Group, which includes fashion retailer Club 21, COMO Hotels and Resorts and the holistic wellness company COMO Shambhala. She also oversees the sustainability efforts of Club 21 and COMO Hotels and Resorts.
Dr Tan’s career has focused on fostering cooperation between the public and private sectors for social good. In 2003, she helped establish the COMO Foundation with the company’s owners. In addition to her role as Director for the Foundation, Dr Tan also spearheads employee engagement activities and sustainability policy and practice for the companies within the COMO Group.
In Singapore, Dr Tan sits on the Board of Directors of organic retail company Supernature. She also served on the Emerging Markets Standards Advisory Council of BLab’s Global Impact Investment Ratings System, an impact rating methodology for social enterprises.
Dr Tan was educated in Singapore, the United States, and England. She obtained her bachelors and masters degrees from Stanford University and her doctorate from Oxford.
