Toby Usnik is the Chief Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Officer and International Director at Christie’s since the end of 2012. In this role, he works with colleagues, clients, vendors and outside observers to execute Christie’s CSR initiatives globally.
Mr. Usnik joined Christie’s in May 2006 as Vice President, Public Relations, Christie’s Americas and was promoted to Senior Vice President and International Head of Corporate Communications, Christie’s International, in August 2007. In this role, he worked closely with all the key specialist departments and management to ensure that Christie’s was recognized as the world’s leading art business. This included responsibility for media relations, public relations, crisis communications and employee communications.
Previously, he was Executive Director of Public Relations for Times Company from 2001-2006, responsible for media relations and crisis communications for the Company’s diverse media properties. He also worked for Razorfish, a firm specializing in digital technology consulting services, American Express and World Education Services in New York before.
Mr. Usnik received a B.A. degree in history and French in 1985 from Hampden-Sydney College, an M.S. degree in university administration in 1988 from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M. Phil. degree in international and comparative education from Columbia University in 1992. He was a Fulbright Scholar to Belgium from 1990-1991 and a graduate of the Coro Foundation’s Leadership New York program in 1997. He is also the past president of the Public Relations Society – New York.
