Hu Xiaosong
President and Professor, College of Food Science and Nutritional Engineering, China Agricultural University, Director, National Food and Vegetable Processing Engineering Research Center

Professor Hu is the President and Professor of the College of Food Science and Nutritional Engineering in the China Agricultural University, and the Director of the National Fruit and Vegetable Processing Engineering Research Center. He also serves as the Vice President of the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology, a member of the National Food and Nutrition Advisory Committee, the Deputy Director of China Beverage Industry Association Technology Committee, as well as various consultancy roles in other associations and commissions.

The primary research focus of Professor Hu lies on fruit and vegetable storing and processing theory and technology, ultra-high pressure food processing technology, food safety and quality management as well as agriculture and food industrial development strategy. His research papers and publications were widely recognized in the academic field. He is also a renowned figure for the media, having appeared as a regular guest and a host on two top information programs on CCTV since 2003.

Professor Hu has involved in handling demonstration work for some of the State Council’s key food safety projects over the years. In 2014, he was awarded the Scientific Spirit Prize which was jointly organized by the International Union of Food Science and Technology Inc. (IUFoST) and the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology.
