Alasdair Morrison

Former Group Managing Director, Jardine Matheson Group, and Chairman, Morgan Stanley Asia

Alasdair Morrison is a British national who has lived and worked in Asia since 1971. He worked for the Jardine Matheson Group (1971-2000), a dominant regional multinational enterprise with a portfolio of businesses in over thirty countries employing over 469,000 people. In 1994, Mr Morrison became Group Managing Director for the Jardine Matheson Group.

Subsequently, and until April 2007, he was Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia, based in Hong Kong. From 2002 to February 2006, he was concurrently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley Asia.

Thereafter, between 2010 and 2015, he spent five years as the Senior Advisor of Citigroup Asia Pacific, a leading global financial services company.

He is currently Senior Advisor of Bain Capital Asia, an independent non-executive director of Pacific Basin Shipping Limited, and Chairman of Trans Maldivian Airways. He was an independent non-executive director of MTR Corporation Ltd, a member of the Financial Services Development Council of the HKSAR Government, a member of the Board of Grosvenor Group Limited in the U.K., a member of the Hong Kong/European Union Business Cooperation Committee, a member of the Bloomberg Asia Pacific Advisory Board, a member of the CapitaLand International Advisory Panel in Singapore, a member of the Operations Review Committee of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), a Trustee of the Lord Wilson Heritage Trust, a member of the Law Reform Commission, the Construction Industry Review Committee, the Hong Kong/US Business Council, past Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the British Chamber of Commerce, past Vice Chairman of the Harvard Business School Association of Hong Kong, past Chieftain of the Hong Kong St. Andrew’s Society, and past Chairman of the Fundraising Committee of the Changing Young Lives Foundation (formerly Save the Children Fund).
