Ray Chen graduated from the architecture department of the Tokyo Designer Institute in 1986. He set up the Ray Chen Architectural Research Studio in 1991 and later founded JRV International. In 2002, he founded Ray Chen International. After 7 years, an architecture design firm Ray Chen and Partners Architects was also found. His major works have been extended to Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.

Ray Chen believes in the principle of subtraction, and has a talent in dealing with plain materials, and simple elegant elevations; by using light and shadow to create the gradation of bright and darkness, his spaces are rich without being monotonous or dull. His stylish simplicity portrays a rich imagery that embodies Ray Chen’s sentiments thoughts and about the world and people.
