Aloke Lohia is the Founder and Group CEO of Indorama Ventures PCL. His entrepreneurial leadership has transformed the company from a family-owned niche business in Thailand to a global leader in chemicals spearheading growth, innovation, and sustainability, in three decades.
Dr. Lohia founded the company in 1994 as a small wool producer in Thailand. He soon actively expanded regionally and globally by acquiring PET and polyester fibers businesses. In 2010, Dr. Lohia listed Indorama Ventures on the Stock Exchange of Thailand as a global leader in PET manufacturing. Today, Bangkok-based Indorama Ventures is among the world’s Top 30 chemical companies.
In the past decade, Dr. Lohia has expanded the company’s footprint to 35 countries. By integrating astute acquisitions in Asia, Africa, Europe, and America, he has doubled EBITDA to over US$1 billion, and quadrupled the number of employees to more than 26,000. Indorama Ventures’ diversified business generated US$14.6 billion in sales in 2021, including applications serving customers in food & beverages, hygiene, mobility, lifestyle, agriculture, and other industries.
Dr. Lohia is widely recognized for his outstanding contributions to the chemical industry. In 2022, he received the prestigious Petrochemical Heritage Award from the Science History Institute in the U.S., which acknowledged his personal achievements and Indorama Ventures’ journey as an industry leader in sustainability. In 2023, he was ranked 7th in the Top 40 Power Players list by leading industry publication Independent Commodity Intelligence Services (ICIS).
Dr. Lohia graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Delhi and holds an Honorary Doctoral Degree of Business Administration from Rajamangala University of Technology in Thailand.
